Software Developer (C++)

Furuno is searching for an experienced Software Developer (C++) to join the R&D unit of 12 professionals in Espoo. The team is responsible for the development of PC-based marine software such as navigation and surveillance systems used in both small boats and large vessels. In the position you will work with versatile full stack tasks utilizing geodata, sensor fusion, graphics and communications. Depending on your skills and interests, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in all stages of software development from defining the requirements and planning the architecture to UI development, data processing, building API’s and test automation. Furuno’s main technology stack includes C++, Qt, Linux and Python.

You may be the person we are looking for if you have already gained experience from backend development using C++ and you are comfortable working with Linux. Most importantly you are excited about building nautical software in addition to having high motivation to constantly learn more amongst Furuno’s group of experts. We hope you have: 

• Work experience in backend development with C++
• Solid skills with Linux
• Analytical mindset and motivation for product development
• Proficiency in English

We consider as an asset:

• Relevant studies in software development/engineering
• Programming skills in Python
• Understanding of modern software development processes and practices (e.g. CI/CD, systems development beyond coding)
• Proficiency in Finnish

Practicalities:

This is a full-time and permanent position. You will be employed directly by Furuno Finland. Start time in the role is as soon as possible, but can be negotiated flexibly. Security clearance will be conducted with the chosen candidate. The role is based in Espoo and requires regular presence at the office due to the physical nature of the product development. While hybrid work is possible, the ability to work on-site frequently is essential.
